Its Interesting to learn about file sharing via a common wireless network at comparable speed with the USB drive. but before we are able to share files on the network,
we have to make some changes in IPv4 settings so that both laptops that want to be share data are in same type of IPv4 addresses. so in this post i gonna show you how to
make IPv4 settings in your all laptops that want to participate in file sharing process.

- Open your Network and Sharing Center in windows 7.
- Then click on your connected connection in front of Connections Tab .
- then lick on Properties .

- Then Select Internet protocol version 4(TCP/IPv4) and click on Properties .
- Click on Use the following IP address:
- Then Enter The IP address in IP address box , In home or offices every Internet has thier own default gateways , in most cases it is 192.168.0.1 by default, but our default gateway is 172.16.0.1 because we are in College and our college provide us this gateway. i show you settings related to my gateway in next step but you can similarly aplly these settings to your own gateway. the gateway is very important because first two columns of IP address is same as that of your default gateway.
- but be in mind that first three columns(for eg:_ in this 172.16.20 ) is same on all laptops because it defines all laptops IP address in Same class,and the remaing coloumn where i use 15, you must have to use diffrent number (for eg:- 16. 17 or 18 etc) on every another laptop to give unique IP identity to every user.
- Then enter Subnet mask as 255.255.0.0 it is same in most cases and mostly its gets automatically filled when you enter your IP address.
- Then enter your default gateway as i enter 172.16.0.1 but in most case by default it is 192.168.0.1 .
- Click on Use the following DNS server addresses:
- Then enter your preffered DNS server as i enter 8.8.8.8 and you can find your own in your router settings which gets opened by insterting your default gateway in browser`s URL bar.
- then finally click on OK .
- Congrats... You have succefully make settings to your IPv4 for make it able to file sharing.
- DO these same steps on all laptops that want to share files.
