- Open the Control Panel from the 'Start' menu and click on 'Printers and Faxes'.
- If you have more than one printer, select the printer that you want to share.
- Inthe 'Printer Tasks' sidebar click 'Share this printer'- a
printer 'Properties' window will open at the 'Sharing' tab. If you do
not have the sidebar right click on the printer and choose 'Properties'
from the menu that appears.
- Select 'Share this printer' and give it a 'Share name' if you wish.

If the printer is to be shared with computers running different
versions of Windows click the 'Additional Drivers' button, a new dialog
box will open where you can select drivers to be made available for a
range of Windows versions. You may be asked to load the driver CD
supplied with the printer to install these additional drivers.
- Click 'Apply' then 'OK' to close the printer Properties window.
Once the printer is shared on your network users in your workgroup will be able to add that printer to their system by using the 'Add Printer wizard' from the Control Panel and selecting a network printer.
To connect to a printer on a network

Open Printers and Faxes. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes.

Under Printer Tasks, click Add a printer to open the Add Printer Wizard, and then click Next.

Click A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer, and then click Next.
Three Ways to Connect to a Printer on a Network
To search for a printer in Active Directory-
Click Find a printer in the directory, and then click Next.

Click the Browse button to the right of Location, click the printer location, and then click OK.

Click Find Now.

Click the printer you want to connect to, and then click OK.
